Over the past year, responsive design has become quite the hot topic in the web design community. So, what is responsive design exactly? Well, the Internet browsing power is not exclusive to desktops computers or cellphones anymore. Nowadays a variety of devices such as tablets, TV, watches etc. etc. can browse the internet as well. Responsive web design (RWD) was the answer to multitude of devices in the market. Using fluid grid-systems, flexible assets and the amazing power of media queries, RWD became a methodology of choice for developing the modern website.
In this presentation I will show you how responsive design tackles the issue of displaying website throughout different screen sizes and web browsers. I also compare it with mobile apps and mobile web apps and whether it matches your model or not and what kind of tools and skills you need to utilize for responsive design.

Speaker’s Bio
Fernando Garcia, a Los Angeles native, is a front-end developer focusing on responsive website design. Fernando has been a RWD (Responsive Web Design) evangelist for the past 5 years with a strong interest in Twitter’s Bootstrap as a framework. He’s worked with small to large scale companies redeveloping their legacy sites into responsive, multi-platform form websites. He currently works at Pioneer Infotech as a front-end developer.
Fernando started the’ Los Angeles Twitter’s Bootstrap’ Meetup to help others learn about the framework and responsive website design. He is also a member of the ‘Web Components LA’ Meetup currently experimenting with Polymer and Web Components as a tool for the future of front-end web development.
