Insights to Big Data and Quality
Topic Abstract:
In the light of big data and new style of business decision paradigm, enormous amount of unstructured data is processed along with traditional structured data in near real time to generate actionalable insights. In this talk, you will learn about Big Data, NoSQL vs SQL , Hadoop and how the old business decision process is different from new one. What tools and platforms can be used to generate the insights? Our insight is as good as THE sourced data and data in process.
What is quality of sourced data and data in process? Quality assurance process for Big data is today mostly ad-hoc process filled with scripts, proprietary and inhouse setups. It is because source data could be tweets, facebook updates or blog posts and every customer has unique need to process them for their business use. Over time, few tools and practices have evolved, thanks to open source revolution. We will review such tools and practices in place today to handle the quality management in general. As examples,we will cover Google Refine and Hadoop as a Service by Mortar Data.

Speaker’s Bio:
Sunil Sabat has 20+ years of hardware and software industry experience in a variety of roles – Intel circuit design automation, and delivering enterprise software solutions involving IBM, Oracle, Microsoft and Open Source technologies.
He is currently a Director at NRIT Inc, which is a leading Business Intelligence solutions provider based in the US, Australia, Middle East and India. Sunil has worked in various sectors including product strategy, design, development, release, sales, support and marketing execution. He has extensive experience working with product, project and revenue life cycle management. He is known among his peers for having excellent partner and customer engagement skills, as well as having a customer-centric problem solving and solution delivery.
Sunil has earned MS ( Computer Engineering ) and MS ( Computer Science ) from University of Louisiana, in 1989 and 1990 respectively. Sunil also has an MBA ( Marketing and Finance ) from Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University, California.
Sunil is an IBM, Microsoft, SNIA and CompTIA ( Linux+, Security+ and Network+) certified professional. He has presented papers at academic conferences like ISCAS 89, CompEuro 90 and Eclipse 2008. He has also presented at IBM and Intel conferences. Sunil has reviewed a very popular hardware design book on Verilog, in addition to being the co-author of an IBM Redbook published in 2009. Sunil is an active volunteer with organizations such as the Red Cross, Second Harvest Food and other community projects
